October 15, 2026
In 2026, the busiest day of Oakville's holiday season isn't parade day. It's Saturday, November 21, the day after Downtown lights its tree. Downtown Oakville, Bronte Village and Kerr Village each run their own tree lighting. Their business associations put them on three separate dates, so the holiday kickoff is a sequence that runs for weeks. It starts at a lakeside farmers' market in late October and finishes at a church hall in early December. The densest point falls on November 20 and 21, when two villages light their trees on back-to-back evenings.
Here is how the season lines up based on the listings published so far.
| Date | Anchor event | Where | Also that day |
|---|---|---|---|

The first event in Oakville's holiday sequence is a farewell. The Bronte Village BIA bills Haunts & Harvest as the last Bronte Farmers' Market of the year. It runs Sunday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bronte Market Square, 2445 Lakeshore Road West. The listing promises more than 40 local vendors and live music. A Doggy Parade starts at noon, and the BIA will donate $5 to the Oakville Milton Humane Society for every dog that walks it.
That same square hosts Bronte's holiday tree lighting four weeks later. Between those two dates, the shopping moves indoors and onto patios. On Wednesday, November 4, Marine Tavern at 49 Bronte Road holds a Holiday Market Sip & Shop from 6 to 9 p.m. According to the Oakville Digest listing, vendors will set up on the covered patio, and drinks will be at happy-hour prices.
This early stretch shows a pattern that holds all season. The big outdoor events belong to the business associations. Much of the gift shopping happens in smaller pop-ups at restaurants, churches and cinemas that sit near those events on the calendar.
The Oakville Santa Claus Parade runs Saturday, November 14, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. through Downtown Oakville and Kerr Village. This year's theme is "North Pole sweets and treats."
The route still has open questions. As of an OakvilleIQ report published October 7, the Town had not released the 2026 route, road closures or transit detours. The Town's Attend the Parade page has headings for route, road closures, residential parking and getting there, but no details under them yet.
Visit Oakville's 2026 listing does describe a free Oakville Transit Santa Shuttle. It runs from Oakville GO Station along Dorval Drive to Trafalgar Park Community Centre, with no stops in between. According to that listing, buses run every 5 to 10 minutes from 8 to 11:30 a.m., and return trips to the GO station end at 11:30. It's best to confirm the shuttle against the Town's page once the route is posted.
The parade is over by mid-morning, which leaves room for the two markets that open the same day:
Since the parade starts at 9 a.m. and the cinema market opens at 10, one family could see both by early afternoon. Parade day is mostly a morning event. The heavier holiday weekend comes six days later.
Downtown Oakville lights its tree first. Light Up The Night starts Friday, November 20, at 5 p.m. in Towne Square. The BIA's listing includes holiday lighting along downtown streets, a visit from Santa and the annual tree lighting. Participating shops will stay open late.
On Saturday, November 21, Bronte follows with At Home in Bronte for the Holidays at Bronte Market Square. It runs from 3 to 7 p.m., and the tree lights at 5:30. The village's 2026 guide adds hot chocolate and asks guests to bring jingle bells.
Three other events fall on the same Saturday, which makes November 21 the busiest single day on the 2026 calendar. In order, it looks like this:
Anyone who goes to Downtown's lighting on Friday and Bronte's on Saturday will have seen two of the three village trees lit on consecutive evenings. Kerr Village, the third, is still a week away.
Between the Bronte and Kerr Village lightings, the downtown shopping moves into restaurants. The Local Love Christmas Market runs at two Lakeshore Road East restaurants on weekdays:
Visit Oakville says both markets will feature curated small businesses and artists selling handmade gifts. Their noon-to-8 hours cover both lunch and the evening, which suits shoppers who can't make it out on a weekend.
Kerr Village comes last on the calendar. According to Visit Oakville, Kerr Village has held a Christmas Tree Lighting for more than 30 years. The 2026 edition, which includes a holiday market, is set for Saturday, November 28, at Westwood Park, 173 Kerr Street. The start time is still listed as TBA. An older BIA page with a full afternoon schedule describes a past year's event and doesn't reflect the 2026 schedule.
The same weekend brings two more markets:
By the end of that weekend, all three villages will have lit their trees. Between Bronte's last farmers' market on October 25 and Kerr Village's lighting on November 28, the season spans six weekends, counting both ends.
The latest market currently listed is St. Joseph's Annual Christmas Marketplace on Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Joseph's Banquet & Conference Centre, 300 River Oaks Blvd. E. According to the Oakville Digest listing, more than 40 local artists, crafters and small businesses will take part, alongside a Ukrainian lunch and baked goods. Admission is free.
Oakville Galleries has one event that covers the whole season. "Aideen Barry: Silent Songs" opens October 24, the day before Haunts & Harvest, and Visit Oakville lists it through January 23 at the Gairloch Gardens and Centennial Square galleries. It's an indoor option on any of the dates above.
Several details are still to be announced, including the Kerr Village start time, the parade route and the Holiday Inn market's hours. The dates themselves are confirmed. The parade falls on November 14, the Downtown and Bronte lightings on November 20 and 21, and the Kerr Village lighting on November 28.
The weeks around these events show how each village area works. Downtown's lighting is a Friday-night event with shops open late, while Bronte's runs on a Saturday afternoon.
