Christmas Town Sold Out? Here's Where Else Milton Families Can Find Santa This Season

October 29, 2026

Conservation Halton has posted a short notice at the top of its Christmas Town page: "Christmas Town tickets are sold out for 2026." For families who planned on the wagon ride into the woods at Mountsberg, that settles it for this year. Most of what made Christmas Town special still happens around Milton this year, spread across a parade, a Main Street festival, the fairgrounds and a self-guided day at Mountsberg itself. Most of it costs nothing to attend.

What the Sold-Out Ticket Actually Included

The best way to replace Christmas Town is to look at what it bundled together. The guided visit at Mountsberg Conservation Area includes a woodland wagon ride, a private family visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a holiday scavenger hunt, cookie decorating with hot chocolate, crafts, a wooden ornament keepsake, a stop in Mrs. Claus' kitchen and, new for 2026, the Ice Palace and Arctic Circle indoor play areas on the upper level of the Discovery Centre. It runs Tuesday to Friday and on select weekends from November 13 to December 23. Non-member tickets are $43 plus HST for adults and $38 plus HST for children and seniors.

So the package has three main parts: the forest setting, private time with Santa, and the crafts-and-cookies afternoon. Each one has a separate home somewhere else on Milton's calendar this year.

The Woodland Setting Is Still Open on Three Weekends

Christmas Town doesn't run on six specific December days: the 5th and 6th, the 12th and 13th, and the 19th and 20th. On those dates Mountsberg switches to Storytime with Santa, a self-guided version of the same grounds, and Conservation Halton's page says 2026 tickets for it are on sale now.

Storytime keeps a lot of the Christmas Town list. It includes a group story reading with Santa, appearances by Mrs. Claus, cookie decorating and hot chocolate, the new Ice Palace and Arctic Circle play areas, a Piper the Elf scavenger hunt, crafts, Mrs. Claus' kitchen, the farm animals in the Mountsberg Barn and the natural playground. It also adds Raptor Tales, a group story with one of Mountsberg's resident raptors, at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Conservation Halton states plainly that Storytime "does not include a wagon ride or private visit/photo time with Santa." The price reflects that. Non-member adults pay $29 plus HST and children and seniors pay $25 plus HST, which is $14 less per adult and $13 less per child or senior than Christmas Town. Hours run from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are timed. Your start time is printed on the e-ticket, you can arrive up to 15 minutes early, and walk-ins are not accommodated. The address is Mountsberg Conservation Area, 2259 Milburough Line, Campbellville.

The one-on-one moment with Santa is the piece of Christmas Town that Storytime does not replace.

The Photo Moves to the Fairgrounds, on the Same Weekends

The Halton Agricultural Society runs Santa at the Fairgrounds at the Milton Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 5 and 6, 12 and 13, and 19 and 20. Those are exactly the six days Mountsberg runs Storytime, so on any of them a family could hear Santa read at Mountsberg and also get the photo it doesn't offer.

Entry is free. Photos with Santa Morgan are $15 each and are emailed to families after each weekend, with no printed copy. There are no time slots, so photos are first come, first served, and the organizers post daily line and wait-time updates on Facebook and Instagram at @MiltonFallFair. Local vendors set up on the grounds, and there are outdoor fire pits for roasting marshmallows. Some vendors may take cash only, and pets aren't allowed.

Instead of charging admission, the event collects donations for the Milton Community Resource Centre's Fill a Crib campaign. The infant food bank's biggest needs are larger-size diapers, baby food pouches and jars, powdered formula and baby wipes.

On December 12 and 13, the first hour from 10 to 11 a.m. is set aside for sensory-friendly visits. Lighting is dimmed, there's no music and crowds are smaller. Families can bring comfort items, and there's no pressure to sit on Santa's lap. Those visits are booked by email at [email protected].

December 5 Is When Everything Lands at Once

Saturday, December 5 is the one day all three options happen together. It's the opening day of Storytime with Santa and Santa at the Fairgrounds, and it's also the day of the Downtown Milton BIA's 18th annual Miracle on Main Street.

Date Storytime with Santa, Mountsberg Santa at the Fairgrounds Miracle on Main Street
Sat., Dec. 5 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Noon to 5 p.m.
Sun., Dec. 6 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sat., Dec. 12 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., sensory-friendly hour 10 to 11
Sun., Dec. 13 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., sensory-friendly hour 10 to 11
Sat., Dec. 19 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sun., Dec. 20 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Miracle on Main Street runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Main Street. Admission is free, and visitors are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy. It's hosted by the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation, the Downtown Milton BIA and Halton Regional Police Service. The listed activities include photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides, free amusement rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, vendors and live music. There are also meet-and-greets with Tiger Jeet Singh, Tiger Ali Singh, police, EMS, dignitaries and other guests.

Two things on that list fill gaps left by Christmas Town and Storytime. A horse-drawn carriage ride is the closest thing on Milton's calendar to the Mountsberg wagon, and Mrs. Claus appears in the photos. Put together, the free Main Street festival covers the ride, the photo and Mrs. Claus, the parts Storytime leaves out.

Because the three events run on different hours, one Saturday can hold more than one of them:

  1. Morning at the fairgrounds. Photos open at 10 a.m., and @MiltonFallFair posts line updates each day. Bring cash in case a vendor needs it, plus a donation for Fill a Crib.
  2. Afternoon on Main Street. Miracle on Main Street starts at noon, so the carriage rides, pony rides and petting zoo come next. Bring the unwrapped toy.
  3. Evening at Mountsberg, if you have a ticket. Storytime runs until 9 p.m. and the last Raptor Tales is at 7 p.m., so a timed evening slot works after a full day in town.

Families who would rather spread things out have five more Storytime and fairground days to pick from, through December 20.

Before December, the Parade Opens the Season

The season starts three weeks earlier, on Main Street. The Milton Santa Claus Parade steps off on Sunday, November 15 at 1:30 p.m. This year's theme is "Your Favourite Christmas Stories." According to Inside Halton, the route goes east along Main Street from Whitmer Street to the Milton GO station. Expect characters from stories such as "The Night Before Christmas" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Milton's first Santa Claus parade was held in 1933, and it has drawn as many as 30,000 people a year.

The same Inside Halton article gives practical advice on where to watch. The crowds are thickest in the downtown core around Martin and Commercial. Families with young children may prefer the start of the route, because delays along the way often mean Santa's float passes there well before it reaches the end. The stretch near the Milton Mall has plenty of parking, places to sit, washrooms and food nearby. The Town of Milton's transit alerts page is the place to check for detours as the parade gets closer.

The parade is run by a volunteer committee with help from local service clubs, and it's still looking for people. Volunteers work from about 12:15 to 3:30 p.m. on parade day and are asked to wear Christmas colours. High school students can get a sheet confirming their volunteer hours. The mandatory volunteer meeting is Sunday, November 8 at 7 p.m. at Milton Lions Hall, 77 Thompson Rd. S., on the second floor above the Milton Memorial Arena. Sign-up is at miltonsantaclausparade.ca.

The Downtown Milton BIA's homepage also lists "Light Up the Winter Nights" for November, with snowflake lights decorating downtown for the winter. If you stay on Main Street after the parade, the lights are another reason to stop in downtown shops between the parade and the December weekends.
